Margaret Elizabeth Scharf (née Cipra). Lovingly known as Maggie, passed away on October 28, 2026, following a courageous three-year battle with Stage IV lung cancer. Born on June 6, 1944, to the late Alvin Joseph Cipra and Georgia Florence Cipra (née Green), Maggie lived a life centered on family, compassion, generosity, and service to others.
Maggie was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Thomas Raymond Scharf; her parents, Alvin Joseph Cipra and Georgia Florence Cipra (née Green); her brothers, Alvin J. Cipra Jr. (Eleanor) and David Cipra (Predy); and her beloved grandson, Colton Scharf.
Maggie was the beloved mother of Karen Scharf Marti and Thomas Scharf; proud grandmother to Adrian Marti (Kristina), Reghan Laki (Attila), Jacob Scharf (Malorie), Kylie Scharf, Devon Marti, and Christopher Scharf; devoted great-grandmother to Laila Laki, Mason Scharf, Olivia Isleim, and Danielle Scharf. Maggie is also survived by her brother, Mark Cipra (Ann). Her greatest pride and joy was her family, and she was the heart and matriarch of generations who will forever carry her love, strength, and wisdom with them.
A devoted aunt and great-aunt, Maggie cherished her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and the special bonds she shared with each of them. She also leaves behind countless extended family members and dear friends whose lives were touched by her kindness, generosity, and unmistakable presence.
A natural caregiver and fearless advocate, Maggie dedicated much of her life to taking care of others and giving back to her community. She believed in helping those in need and made a difference through her generosity and compassion. Her commitment to making the world a better place was reflected in her monthly support of the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and Greenpeace, organizations whose missions she believed in deeply.
Maggie's life was a gift to those who knew her. She was the foundation of her family, a source of strength and someone whose legacy will continue through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Maggie's life and legacy on Sunday, November 22, 2026, at Chambers Funeral Homes, 29150 Lorain Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. Calling hours will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Maggie's memory to one of the three organizations she faithfully supported: The Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, or Greenpeace.
