MARIA  (Tonia) MEDINA, age 74, passed away surrounded by her close family on January 30 ^th , 2021. Tonia was proceeded in death by her parents Cristobal and Romana and siblings Felicita, Fernando, Martin. Her family moved to the Cleveland area from Puerto Rico in the early 1960s. Tonia can be easily defined as a selfless person. She would sacrifice anything to make the lives of her family members better; even so much, that when her husband Jaime Medina had a stroke and became paralyzed, she stayed home to become his full-time caretaker. Tonia wanted to make sure her immediate family was well taken care of no matter what. She enjoyed cooking and always made sure her family was well fed; especially with her famous lasagna, rice and beans, or empanadas. Tonia enjoyed watching cooking shows, telenovelas, and comedy movies in addition to listening to Spanish music and telling fun stories with her husband in their kitchen. She also made sure to go to Church every week no matter what. Last, but certainly not least, Tonia enjoyed scratch lottery tickets, and made sure to play the lottery at least once a week. She's won a few times! Tonia is survived by her husband, Jaime Medina; her siblings, Victor Vallejo and Carmen Lozado; her children, Jimmy Medina and Margarita Medina and her significant other Rick Gardner, her grandson, Antonio Cruz and his wife Tiana Cruz, and her great grandchildren, Elias Cruz and Keira Cruz, and is missed by many others. Funeral Mass Saturday, February 6, St. Patrick Church (West Park) at 1:30 P.M. where social distancing will be observed and facemarks required.
