MARION JEAN LEAVELL (nee Sayre), age 89, of Westlake, OH and longtime resident of North Olmsted, OH, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the Brookdale Westlake Village Assisted Living Community. Born September 18, 1929 in Berkeley, CA to Charles and Hazel Sayre, Jean was a graduate of the University of California Berkeley where she earned her teaching degree and specialized in early elementary education. After raising her family, Jean worked for Royal and Arkwright/FM Global Insurance Companies until her retirement. Jean loved the outdoors and was featured riding bikes with friends in one of Yosemite National Park's visitor information films. She especially enjoyed camping with her family in many state and national parks throughout the country. Jean was a "RedCoat" Volunteer at Cleveland Playhouse Square for many years and also treasured outings with her "Red Hats" group. A devoted and long-standing member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, she enjoyed singing in the Choir and participating in Christian fellowship groups. Jean is survived by daughters Linda (Richard) Turner of Maumee, OH and Laura (Robert) Wood of Strongsville, OH; grandsons Steve (Joanna) Mosgo and Michael Mosgo; granddaughters Danielle (Benjamin) Chronister and Melissa (Jimmy) McCoy; great-grandchildren Adalyne McCoy and Lisa Mosgo; son-in-law James (Anne) Yauch and nephews Kenneth and Rick Lawyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Margaret (David) Lawyer and daughter Lisa Yauch. A memorial service and reception will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday November 2, 2019 at John Knox Church in North Olmsted, OH.
