MARVIN E. ENGLISH, age 92.  Beloved husband of Catherine McGreevy English (nee Murray); father of Michael English, Donald English , Kevin English (Kelly), Joesph McGreevy (Natalie), Thomas McGreevy (Karen), and James McGreevy; grandfather of 12; brother of the late William English. Passed away July 19, 2024.  U.S. Navy Veteran - Korea.  Funeral Mass Wednesday, July 24, The Church of St. Clarence at 11 AM (Mass will be livestreamed at www.st-clarence.org) .  Interment Thursday, July 25 with Military Honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 2:15 PM.  Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of NORTH OLMSTED, 29150 LORAIN RD. AT STEARNS RD., Tuesday 2-4 and 5-7 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Church of St. Clarence, 30106 Lorain Rd. Marvin E. English passed away at his home in North Ridgeville, OH on July 19, 2024.

He was born on October 18, 1931 to Lucille (nee Such) and Frederick English in Lakewood OH.  He graduated from Lakewood High School in June 1949.  He enrolled and attended Fenn College in Cleveland, OH.In 1951, with the Korean Conflict going on he joined The US Navy.  After basic training, he was sent to Naval Schools to become an Aviation Metalsmith and was assigned to the USS Essex.  His training and his job in the US Navy allowed him to begin his career at NACA-NASA, Lewis Research Center in Cleveland, OH.  He became the Branch Chief of Metal Fabricationfrom which he retired in 1991.  Marvin was always proud of the work being done at Lewis Research Center and the contribution he and his co-workers contributed to the success of the many accomplishments for the Space Program of the US government.  His passion for learning and education inspired him to teach at Polaris Career Center and to become a member of the Board of Education in Westlake, OH.

Retirement was a time for him and Cathy to travel and visit family and friends in their motor home. He enjoyed the time he could spend in Florida in the winter and visiting the National Parks. Marvin was a devoted family man and enjoyed having his home filled with family and friends.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 33 years, Catherine McGreevy English (nee Murray) and their blended family of sons: Michael English, Donald English, Kevin English (Kelly), Joseph McGreevy (Natalie), Thomas McGreevy (Karen) and James McGreevy.  Their grandchildren:  Matthew English, Noah English, Caroline English, Lily English, Zachary English, Delaney English, Emily McGreevy, Olivia McGreevy, James McGreevy, Andrew McGreevy, Ryan McGreevy and Brendan McGreevy.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife and mother of their sons, Nancy (nee Weber), his parents and his brother William English.
