MARY ELIZABETH FOX (nee Ranft), age 88. Beloved wife of the late Thomas C. Fox, Sr.; loving mother of Thomas C., Jr. (Irene), Margaret A., John F. (Dawn), Patricia A. Fox-Goodwin (Robin) and David C. (Lori Jo); much-loved grandmother Thomas, Daniel, Amy, Matthew, Megan, Robin, Cara, Mary (Jane), Lauren, Elizabeth, Daniel, Megan and Matthew.; sister of the late Robert Ranft; aunt and great-aunt of many. Mary graduated from Villa Angela Academy '49 and Seton Hill College '53. It was at Seton Hill College where she formed many lifelong friendships. Upon graduation from Seton Hill she worked as a home economist for the East Ohio Gas Company. She continued working until she met and married her husband Tom, the love of her life. Mary and Tom met on a ski trip sponsored by the Cayomaw Club (Catholic Young Men and Women) and as it happened there was no snow. They married at St. Philomena's Church on April 21, 1956. Together they raised five children and operated a family business, the former Fox Funeral Home in Berea, Ohio from 1966 – 1974. Mary was a devout Catholic and was a woman of great faith, elegance and charity. She always set an example for her children and all who knew her with grace, kindness and giving of herself. She returned to school and earned her teacher certificate. She taught home economics in the Cleveland Public Schools for 19 years. Mary was a devoted teacher to her students at East Technical High School, Charles A. Mooney Junior High School and East High School. She enjoyed baking, reading, crocheting and making clothing for her family. She loved trees and birds, especially her daily visit from her cardinal. Mary remained a loyal and dear friend to many. Passed away at home surrounded by her family May 12, 2020. A private Funeral Mass was held with interment with her husband Tom at Holy Cross Cemetery.
