MERCITA COLETTE FITZGERALD (née Bommer), 88, of North Olmsted, Ohio. Wife of Arthur Richard FitzGerald (deceased) died peacefully at home on December 16, 2021. Born on February 16, 1933 in North Ridgeville, Ohio to the late Frank and Marie Bommer, she was the youngest of four children. She was preceded in death by siblings, Virginia Tillman (Paul, deceased), and Charles (Rose Marie). She is survived by sister, Ann Losh (Clete, deceased). Mercita grew up in North Ridgeville, Ohio and was a graduate of Saint Augustine High School (1951) and St. John College of Nursing (1955). Mercita was a faithful follower of Christ and was devoted to her family. She had a great sense of humor, (you have to with six children). Throughout her illness she was an inspiration to her family, friends and caregivers. She will be missed by many. Mercita is survived by her children and their spouses: Kevin (Cindy), Kate (Paul Sheridan), Margaret (Luc Plaetinck), Brian (Alice), John (Kathleen Moore) and Michael (Kim); 20 grandchildren: Owen, Clare, Anna Grace, James, Nora, Evelyn, Joost, Sean, Jonathon, Kevin, Ian, Jack, Elizabeth, Michael, Madeline, Bridget, Colleen, Erin, Brian and Jack; and great grandchildren: Callie, Landon, Beckett, Odette and Freya, and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21 at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME, 29150 Lorain Rd. North Olmsted. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, December 22 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 12700 Pearl Rd., Strongsville (see link below for livestream). Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
