MICHAEL WAYNE SMITH passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with melanoma, on September 1, 2023 at the age of 67.

Mike centered his life around his roles as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, and friend to everyone he met.  He shared his love of music with friends and family throughout his life.  As a lifelong Clevelander, he loved all things Cleveland sports and could tell you anything you wanted to know about the Browns or the Guardians (nee Indians).  He instilled his love of baseball into his son Matt, whom he was immeasurably proud of.  After his retirement from the R.T.A as a bus driver, he and his wife Suzan enjoyed many of the simple pleasures in life together- camping, local car shows, outdoor concerts in the summertime, exploring the Metro parks, keeping up with NASCAR races, and, most recently, visiting their cherished granddaughter in Columbus.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Smith.  Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years Suzan (nee Hill), his son Matthew (Lauren), his granddaughter Olivia, his mother Elaine Adkins (nee Rakes), his brother Randy, his sister Brenda Lukic, and his many nieces and nephews: David, Douglas, Melanie, Juliane, Gregory, Steven, Alex, Angela and Melanie.

Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 6 at St. Mary of the Falls Church (25615 Bagley Rd.) at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to call at Chambers Funeral Home of North Olmsted (29150 LORAIN RD, AT STEARNS) on Tuesday, September 5 from 3-8 PM.
