OMER FRANKLIN "FRANK" SPURLOCK, age 74. Passed away suddenly on May 29, 2014 in the company of his loving sister, Mary Bess, while visiting their cousin Esther Ruth Jones at her home in Arkansas. Frank was born on April 20, 1940, to the late Omer and Bessie Spurlock and was a longtime resident of Brooklyn, OH. In addition to his sister, a resident of New York, he is survived by numerous cousins and a large number of close friends. Frank had a distinguished career at NASA's Glenn Research Center in Cleveland. He developed and operated the first computer program used to design optimum launch trajectories for many prominent U.S. space missions for almost 30 years. More importantly, on a personal level, was his dedicated and tireless recruiting, mentoring, and developing of new employees, many of whom now hold mid- and senior-level positions at NASA and elsewhere. A Memorial Mass to celebrate Frank's life will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (4170 N. Amber Dr., Brooklyn, OH) on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11 A.M., followed immediately by a catered reception in the
Church hall. In Frank's memory, friends are invited to donate to a charity of their choice, or to the newly named Frank Spurlock Science Camp, North End Foundation of Berea, 634 Wesley Dr., Berea, OH 44017 (www.northendfoundation.org). CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of CLEVELAND, 216-251-6566.
