PHYLLIS M. GRAY (nee Winkler), age 89, beloved wife of the late James Frederick; loving mother of Gail Barker (John), James R. Gray (deceased), Susan Christian (Robert) and Vicki Brezovec (Brian) passed away suddenly and peacefully Sunday, September 4, 2022.

Phyllis was born on August 1,1933 in Fairview Park, Ohio. She married James F. Gray in December, 1951. They were married for 48 years. Phyllis worked in various restaurants over the years including the Brown Derby and Manners Big Boy. Later she worked in the school cafeteria for Stow schools where she enjoyed interacting with the school children. She and her husband enjoyed vacationing in Florida almost every year where they made many seasonal friends. They also made it a point to visit her brother in Tennessee on those trips as well as visit their daughter who had relocated to Orlando some years ago. They took many trips including a trip of a lifetime for them to Yellowstone National Park. She was an avid reader of romance and mystery novels plus she also enjoyed mystery movies. They had many friends with whom they played cards and belonged on a bowling league. Her parents immigrated from Germany and Phyllis was very proud of her German heritage. She enjoyed attending events at the Donauschwaben Cleveland German American Cultural Center where she and Jim often celebrated New Year's Eve. Phyllis loved attending a good party with a band and could dance with the best of them. One of her favorites songs was "Proud Mary". She was an excellent cook and made many German specialties. There was always good food in the house.

Phyllis was a proud grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attended their events as often as she could. She was the loving grandmother of Jeff Mintz, Leonard Crack (Cheryl), Kenneth Crack, Aaron McCoy (Emily), Grace Welch, Brian Brezovec, Jr., Rachael Brezovec and Nicholas Brezovec. Dear Great-grandmother to Korin and Alyssa Mintz, Michael and Leonard (Jr.) Crack and Donovan and Myles Gunnell. Dear sister of George Winkler (deceased) Richard Winkler and Robert Winkler (Gladys). She will be dearly missed by numerous other relatives and friends.
