IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ramon J.
Kaloczi, Sr.
December 17, 1930 – November 12, 2025
RAMON J. KALOCZI, SR. age 94. Beloved husband of 69 years to Sharon (nee Bader); father of Melissa Reilly (the late Thomas), Celeste Smith (Paul), Charles (Karen), Margaret Walter (Mark), Ramon Jr. (Denise) and the late Ramona Jean and Cynthia Michelich (Daniel); grandfather of Tom, Kelly Larson (Chris), Brenna and Joe (deceased) Reilly; Scott (Jenn), Ed (Mandy) and Caitlin Mantas (Dan) Smith; Adam and Cameryn Kaloczi; Emily Yusko (Brian), Marlene Quiggle (Chris) and Natalie Michelich; Jack and Olivia Walter; and Cassie and Rachel Kaloczi; great-grandfather of 10; brother of Joan McHugh (the late Jack); brother-in-law of the late Beverly McGroarty (the late Jack); uncle and friend of many. Ray's family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of the Western Reserve Lorain County for the loving care they showed Ray.
Along with his unwavering love of family, Ray, also known as "Big R" had many admirable qualities. His work ethic, devotion to his country and his deep faith defined him. He worked at Dairymen's for 43 years, seldom missing work. Ray joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country from 1951 to 1954. He was sent overseas in 1953 and fought on the frontlines during the Korean War. Ray was a corporal when honorably discharged being awarded several combat merits.
Ray belonged to the St. Mel Young Adult Club where he met his future wife of 69 years, Sharon Bader. Ray and Sharon were parishioners of St Mel and raised their children there. They were then long time members of St. Julie Billiart in their senior years. They attended Saturday evening mass "religiously" up until a month before Ray's passing when his health had declined drastically and made it impossible. They would finish off the evening with a dinner of Whopper Juniors and would split an order of medium fries.
Big R enjoyed camping with Sharon and their six children, traveling to many places throughout this country. Ray and Sharon even traveled to Alaska for a six week camping trip.
He was a model plane builder since childhood. Ray knew everything about any makes/models of vehicles and was a member of the Gear Grinder Club with his classic cars until he married and switched to station wagons! Anyone that knew Big R has seen his jigsaw puzzle collection, framed and hung up in his gallery (garage). He would proudly go through each one and tell you about them and who purchased it for him. Ray enjoyed Sudoku and Word Search and could be seen sitting at his kitchen table tirelessly working on them. Those that know him - just two words - orange candy.
