RICHARD W. WEIDOKAL, age 88. Born July 26, 1931 at home in Cleveland, OH. Passed away January 19, 2020 after a tough fight with Parkinson's.

Beloved husband of 53 years to the late Frances (nee Krish); father of Judy Holsinger (John), Deborah Petro (Edward) and Susan; grandfather of Anna Gant (Alex), Matthew Holsinger and Rachel Petro; great-grandfather of Arabella Gant; son of the late Helen (nee Gorman) and Oliver T. Weidokal; brother of Sher Jones and the late Oliver.

Dick was a proud member of Ironworkers Local 17 for 60 plus years. He walked the steel, then became a teacher and coordinator of the apprentice program.

He served as a Marine during the Korean Conflict. He played both baseball and football on championship teams at Camp Lejeune.

He was an avid sailor and enjoyed sailing on Lake Erie. He was also an accomplished woodworker, keeping his wooden folk boat in beautiful condition.  He enjoyed flying and owned a plane.  Later he earned his commercial pilot's license.

The family would like to thank everyone at Brookdale Canton for all their love and support during dad's stay there.  Also, to Crossroads Hospice for their help during dad's last days.

Funeral Mass Friday, Jan. 24, St. Ladislas Church (2345 Bassett Rd.) at 12:30 PM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of NORTH OLMSTED, 29150 LORAIN RD. AT STEARNS THURSDAY 4-7 PM.
