ROMAN J. KLIMKOWICZ, age 99, beloved husband of the late Marie (nee Jagson); loving father of Douglas, Donald (Kimberly) and Anne Marie Shadrake; grandfather of 8; great-grandfather of 12; brother of the late Myron, Robert, Johanna Swiatkowski and Olga Zacharias; uncle and great-uncle of many. U.S. Army veteran. Roman served in WWII in the Pacific Theater having fought in the battles to liberate the Philippines under General Douglas MacArthur and the conquest of Okinawa under Admiral Chester Nimitz. He served in the Army Field Artillery in the famed Deadeyes, 96th Infantry Division. The 96th was awarded a Presidential Unit Citation for valor in Okinawa, one of only four awarded in the Pacific during WWII. Member of Fairview Park American Legion Post 738 and member of Bricklayers Local 5 for 71 years. Passed away October 29, 2020 at his home. Funeral Mass Wednesday, November 4, The Church of St. Clarence (30106 Lorain Rd., North Olmsted) at 10 A.M. (facemasks required). Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of NORTH OLMSTED, 29150 LORAIN RD. AT STEARNS RD., where social distancing will be observed and facemasks required, TUESDAY 4-7 P.M.
