It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald P. Cerny, who departed this world peacefully at the age of 84, with his beloved wife, Patricia (Keefe), by his side.

Together, they were blessed with four children: Ronald F. Cerny (Karen), baby Richie, Deann Szelpal (late Nick), and Lisa Mellon (Donald.) Ron cherished his role as Poppy to his grandchildren, Ashley Dolar (Christopher), Ronald P. Cerny II (Amanda), Stephen Szelpal, Donald E. Mellon III, and Marisa Mellon. He was equally thrilled to be a great-grandfather to Ava, Lily, and Zane.

Ron was son to the late Louis and Cecilia and beloved brother to the late Bernadine (Sucku) Butkiewicz (Ralph and Felix), the late Louis Cerny (Elizabeth), and the late Frank Cerny (Nancy).

In the year 2000, Ron and Pat decided to begin a new chapter, relocating to The Villages, Florida, where they enjoyed warm sunshine and picturesque views of the polo field from their lanai and pool.

Ron's hobbies included fishing, billiards, bird-watching, and golf. His passion for golf culminated in two unforgettable moments, first scoring a hole-in-one in 2012 and again in 2020.

Ron's life was marked by service and hard work. He had proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy before becoming a construction electrician. Then, for 25 years, he dedicated his energy and skills to Ford Motor Company. Upon retiring, he continued to embody the principles of "work hard, play hard."

In his final days, Ron displayed remarkable strength of character and unwavering love for family. He will be dearly missed, and his legacy of love, laughter, and commitment to family will endure in the hearts of those he leaves behind. He often said, "I love you bunches," and we love him bunches, too.

Visitation and memorial service at Chambers Funeral Home in North Olmsted on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 12-1 PM, with a private interment later in the day. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Heart Association are requested by the family.
