IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald J.
Gumbish
January 30, 1949 – September 15, 2022
RONALD J. GUMBISH, age 73, passed away on September 15 th , 2022 in the arms of his devoted wife, Kathleen (nee Clark) of 48 years and his 3 surviving children, Sarah Masterson, Kaitlyn Ballard, and Jennifer Gumbish. We are sure their son Samuel, who passed over at 18 years old, as well as Ron's mother and father were present with him also. He was a beloved brother to his 7 siblings.
Ron was a Marine Corps Veteran who served 1.5 tours in Vietnam. He worked for 38 years at Ford Motor Company in Brookpark, starting as an iron pourer and later going on to skilled trades as a pipe fitter. A native Clevelander, he was a passionate Cleveland baseball fan since childhood.
Ron loved to read and was always interested in making sure all of his four children excelled in school and shared his love of literature. He was known to sometimes be reading five books at once, and he never cheated on his crossword puzzles.
He loved his family above everything else and made sure they all knew this without question. He often told the children as they grew that, "the only people who will always be there for you are going to be your family."
He also loved to play high stakes poker with a group of his fellow retired Ford friends. Lately, most of them have passed on, and one can't help but wonder if there isn't a "game" going on somewhere up there right now.
A Celebration of Life will be held by invitation.
"And the world will be better for this,
That one man, scorned and covered with scars,
Still strove with his last ounce of courage,
To reach the unreachable star."
