Russell Allen Dahlinger died peacefully surrounded by his family on June 14, 2016, in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, at the age of 82.

Russell was born on February 12, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Charles and Edna Dahlinger. Following his graduation from Allegheny High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served 3 years, including 6 months in Okinawa during the Korean War.

Russell was a loving father, step-father, grandfather and great-grandfather to six children, Deborah (Perry) Hickey, Wautoma, Wisconsin, Jeff (Lisa) Dahlinger, Great Falls, Montana, Dan (Sandra) Dahlinger, Novi, Michigan, Maria (Craig McElroy) Dahlinger, Vicksburg, Michigan, Russ (Megan) Dahlinger II, Olmsted Falls, Ohio, Lorinda (Dennis) Koho, Keizer, Oregon, 8 grand children and 4 great-grand children.

Russell spent a year as a Michigan State Police Officer. He then worked for Kraft Foods, and after working many years for United Wholesale Warehouse in Kalamazoo, Michigan he retired. Russell was an avid bowler, card player, and fan of the Detroit Tigers, and enjoyed traveling around the United States and abroad.

Russell is survived by his brother, Charles (Marianne Suhanin) Dahlinger II, his sister, Diane (Richard) McGiffin, his children, Deb, Jeff, Dan, Maria, Russ, and Lori, his grand-children, great grand-children, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna (Quesinberry) Dahlinger, his parents Charles and Edna (Grote) Dahlinger, and his aunts, Nelda and Grace Grote.

The family would like to thank the nurses and caregivers at Village of the Falls for their dedication to Russell.

A memorial service will be held at Langeland's Comstock Chapel at 6121 King Hwy, Kalamazoo, Michigan, 49048, on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 11:30 a.m., and interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan.
