IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sally Marie
Janowick
February 19, 1936 – July 9, 2024
Sally Marie Janowick (née Baran), 88, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home in the early hours of July 9th after a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Born on February 19, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was the youngest of eight children to the late Ignatius and Mary Baran. All of her siblings preceded her in death.
Sally graduated from Saint Michael High School and began her career at Alcoa. On October 16, 1965, she married the love of her life, Norman Michael Janowick, affectionately known as "Mousie." Sadly, Norman passed away 24 years later, leaving Sally widowed at the age of 53. She often said she never dated or remarried because she "already had the best." She devoted the rest of her life to her family, friends, and Catholic faith.
Known for her kindness and selflessness, Sally always put others' needs above her own. She enjoyed reading, keeping up with pop culture through People magazine, playing cards, solving puzzles, cheering for Cleveland's sports teams, visiting the senior center for beading and bingo, watching game shows and Hallmark movies, going to casinos, and traveling to Manzanita, her slice of heaven on earth. Her two grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she continued to support them from afar after moving to California seven years ago to live with her son, David. Sally became the heart of David's home, delighting her furry grandchildren with treats and brightening the household with her witty spirit. She will be dearly missed.
Sally is survived by her two sons, Michael and David Janowick, and her two grandchildren, Christopher and Kennedy, who meant the world to her. In her final moments, Sally expressed a wish "to go home." After her passing, a small mouse was seen entering her bedroom, bringing comfort to her family in the thought that her beloved "Mousie" had come to take her home.
Funeral Mass Saturday, July 27, Saint Barbara Parish, 1505 Denison Ave., for family, friends, and all who wish to pay their respects and say their final goodbyes at 10 A.M. Family will receive friends at the church from 9 A.M. until time of mass. A procession will follow to Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park, OH, where Sally will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Norman ("Mousie").
