TERESA B. HIRZ

Listen to Obituary

Teresa Bernadette Hirz, 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, after an extended battle with breast cancer, surrounded by the love of her life.

Born on February 22, 1961, to Harold Hirz and the late Noreen Hirz, Teresa was a brilliant trailblazer, an adventurous spirit, and a force of nature. As a professional electrical engineer, she brought her sharp mind and analytical talents to impactful careers at Alcoa and General Electric. She was a lifelong, avid researcher who never stopped asking questions, seeking answers, and expanding her understanding of how the world worked.

Above all, Teresa was defined by her immense generosity and deeply caring nature. She possessed a rare willingness to help anyone, at any time, for any reason. Whether someone needed a hand with a complex project, sound advice, or quiet support, Teresa was always the first to show up, asking for nothing in return. Her heart was as vast as her intellect, and her impact on the lives of those she helped is a lasting part of her legacy.

Her analytical mind was beautifully balanced by her boundless energy and love for the outdoors. Teresa lived life in motion. Whether she was carving down a mountain on snow skis, cutting through the water on a boat, or rollerblading, she found her greatest joy surrounded by nature and speed. She loved the water and the snow equally, embracing every season to its absolute fullest.

Beyond her intellect and adventures, Teresa had a deep, compassionate love for animals. Her home was always filled with the warmth and joy of her animal companions. She cherished the family of pets who brought immense happiness to her daily life: her beloved parrot, Tommy, and her three adored dogs, Itsy, Bitsy, and Bear.

Teresa was equally comfortable with power tools as she was with engineering schematics. She had a deep passion for home improvement, always diving into complex projects to design, build, and transform the spaces around her with her own two hands.

Teresa’s warmth, brilliant mind, and adventurous soul will be deeply missed. She is survived by her loving and devoted spouse, partner, and companion of 44 years, Carol Weber; her loving father, Harold, Sr.; her brothers, Michael, Harold, Jr., and John (Lynn); her loving parents-in-law, Joanna and Stan Beaudry; and her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Robert (Lisa), Sharon, Mark, and Tracy. She also leaves behind an extended family of nieces, nephews, colleagues, and close friends who were inspired by her energy and intellect.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Noreen Hirz, and her brother-in-law, William (survived by his wife, Linda).
