Terry Edward Nye (81) resided in Berea, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on Monday, March 17th, 2025.  Terry was born on December 12th, 1943 in Washington Court House to William and Betty (Shindledecker) Nye.

Terry placed a high value in education.  He graduated from the Class of 1961 Bellville High, where he earned letters in football, wrestling and track.  He pursued higher education at Rio Grande College where he was a student council representative, basketball cheerleader and secretary of his Fraternity Order of Archon (Alpha Chi Nu) graduating in 1966 with a Liberal Arts Degree in Education.  Terry furthered his education by earning a Master's Degree in History in 1969 @ Xavier University.

Terry's work history consisted of Mansfield tire inspector, teacher/coach at Madison High, UPS Driver, farmer, school board member and entrepreneur.

During graduate school, Terry settled down and married his truelove Debbie Payne, January 13th, 1968.  He is survived by his children, Autumn Bachelder of Ashland, Shad (Colleen) Nye of Strongsville, Monique (Todd) Grueser of New Albany and Ty (Allison) Nye of Strongsville; grandchildren, Avery Bachelder, Austin, Skye, Kya and Kinsley Nye, Dalton Grueser, Tristen, Tehya, Taryn and Tabraham Nye; his brother, Kim (Cheryl) Nye of Fredericktown; and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lillian (Charles) Sherman; father, William Nye; mother, Betty Nye; brother, Mark Nye; and a sister, Christy (Hank) Solis.

Terry stood up for principle and the underrepresented that did not have a voice.  He would go to any lengths to serve and protect these values.  He was an idealist that saw the good in every person he encountered.  Terry never met a stranger.   Terry was best known for his outgoing personality, high energy, and ornery antics.  He would always keep you guessing as to what he was going to say next.  He quickly learned personal interest and facts about you and became your biggest fan/friend!  He was a wonderful listener that would give good counsel and had great wisdom.  Terry was a trusted and respected confidante.  Family meant everything to Terry.  He always felt his greatest achievements were his four children and later it was his ten beautiful grandchildren.  Terry was his grandchildren's biggest cheerleader.  He was supportive of all their sports and accomplishments whether he attended or not.

Terry was a locker-room warrior, no matter what the outcome, he was a presence and a source of encouragement!  Just ask Shad or Ty's teammates!  He extended his own locker-room experience by playing on the Semi-Pro football team Clear Fork Wheels as an offensive lineman (#70/Tackle) during the early 70's.

Terry's children would be honored to receive friends March 21st, 2025 from 4-8pm @ Heart Hill, 7059 Wheatcraft Road, Butler, Ohio 44822.  A Celebration on Terry's life will be lead with prayer and scripture readings by Father Ryan Cubera and an open mic eulogy.  In the words of Terry Nye, "Tell everyone I love them, take care of yourself & be safe!"

Contributions in memory of Terry Nye are encouraged to benefit one of the following foundations: The Heritage Foundation, Young America's Foundation, Fraternity Order of Archon (Alpha Chi Nu - University of Rio Grande) and Hillsdale College.
