THERESA A. BERNAT (nee Kempf) age 87.  (March 7, 1936 - December 19, 2023) beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Beloved wife of the late Frank Jr.; loving   mother of Nancy Justice (Timothy), Frank (Jane), Robert and Karen; dear grandmother of Erin Justice-Maistros (Jarrod), Ashley Bernat, Valerie Bittala (Steven), Robert Bernat Jr.and Lesley Disbrow (David); great-grandmother of Salem, Ethan and David Jr.; daughter of the late Johanna (nee Stueckler) and Jacob Kempf; Goddaughter of Antonia Stueckler Willax and Wilhelm Schneider.

She had a no-nonsense approach to life, until she didn't. Theresa was a source of wisdom, joy, love and mischief to her family, friends and community. A lead footed driver who never got a speeding ticket, Theresa once stopped her car to collect a stuffed reindeer with 1 ear from the side of the road.

A devout Catholic, Theresa was active in the St. Clarence Church community and a founding member of the church choir.

She was employed as a cafeteria worker for the North Olmsted school system from 1970 until her retirement in 1999.

Theresa loved dogs, crochet and making people laugh. Always the first to like a Facebook post, she enjoyed staying connected online.  Her family rests assured she has earned her angel wings.

Funeral Mass Saturday, December 23, Church of St. Clarence (30106 Lorain Rd.) at 11:00 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of NORTH OLMSTED, 29150 LORAIN RD. AT STEARNS FRIDAY 3-6 PM.
