WILLIAM R. BRISTOW, age 94, was born on December 6, 1925 and passed away on February 18, 2020. Beloved husband of the late Barbara J. (nee Campbell). Son of William Bristow and Lillian (nee Lampus), both deceased. Dear brother to Lynn Bristow (Liz) and Wesley Bristow (deceased) (Carol). Cherished Uncle of Deborah Milano (Jay), Lynn (Maria), Danny, Patrick (deceased), Wendy Biello (Ray), Gary and Thomas (Maria). Great Uncle and great-great Uncle of many. Proud WWII U.S. Army Combat veteran. Drafted at age 19, Bill found himself along with another soldier, marching into the Ardennes Forest to join up with his unit for his first day of combat on the first day of the Battle of the Bulge. After gallantly serving with the 39th Infantry, 9th Div., Bill returned to complete his education at Baldwin Wallace College and then embarked on a decades long career mentoring, coaching and teaching at Fairview High School. Always active, playing tennis three times a week well into his eighties; always adaptable, eager to learn new things (never without his cell phone); always on the go, flying off to Hawaii several times in the past few years. A man with many friends, new and old… Bill kept in touch with ex-students who loved and respected him, as well as spending time with fellow educators and coaches. He made a difference in people's lives… he will be sorely missed. Bill wanted everyone to know that he had a wonderful life. Aloha, Uncle Bill. Private burial with full Military Honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery (date to be determined). Family requests memorial contributions to Southwest Residential Hospice, 18659 Drake Rd., Strongsville, OH  44136.  Arrangements by CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of BEREA (216) 251-6566.
