WILLIAM MATHEWS FEIGHAN passed away peacefully July 9, 2021 at his home in Ft. Lauderdale, FL after a long struggle with Parkinson's.  Bill was born in Cleveland on April 14, 1934 to Florence (nee Mathews) and retired U.S. Congressman Michael A. Feighan.  Bill was named after western scout, Old Bill Williams, an itinerant scout who guided treks out west in the 18 ^th century from his home in Virginia and Kentucky.  Williams, Arizona is named after him.

Bill began his career in the Ohio Legislature in the 1960s where he introduced the first mandatory seatbelt law in the nation having suffered a life-threatening car accident as a teenager.

He was quite the entrepreneur and invested in many things, among them a flying car which was featured in one of the 007 Bond movies.

Bill had many friends and as many adventures with them to fill a novel or two.  He was dearly loved for his sense of humor and unique skills at mimicking.

Bill is survived by his sister, Fleur Feighan Jones (Hugh, Sr.) and nephew, Hugh Jones, Jr., all of Chatham, MA, as well as his nephew, Michael Feighan Jones, and his children, Declan Jones and Riley Jones, all of Everett, WA.  Bill had been cared for by his dear friend, John Barrientos, and friends Gerald Solin, Bill Corker and Jim Hyden, all of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  He was predeceased by his parents and sadly witnessed the death of his brother, Michael Jr., by a drunk driver.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet for his Funeral Mass Wednesday, July 14, Our Lady of Angels Church (3644 Rocky River Dr., Cleveland) at 10 A.M. (Mass will be livestreamed on the Chambers Funeral Homes Facebook page).  Interment Calvary Cemetery (Cleveland).  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Urban Community School, 4909 Lorain Ave. Cleveland, OH 44102 or Monastery of the Poor Clares, 3501 Rocky River Dr., Cleveland, OH 44111.  Arrangements by CHAMBERS FUNERAL HOME of CLEVELAND (216) 251-6566.
