WILLIAM ELMER LEPPERT, 85, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020, at his home surrounded by close family.  Beloved husband of June (nee Laub), loving father of Barbara Kelly, Kathie Chlepciak (Carson), Debbie Lee, Diane Schirmer (David) and Laurie Flanagan (Mike); stepfather of Anthony Malinak (Penny) and Denise Bradish (Dan); grandfather and great-grandfather of many; brother of Judy Bicker.

Bill was born August 20, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio to Elmer and Helen (Strong) Leppert.  After his mother's death when Bill was just 4 years old, his father remarried and Bill was raised by his loving stepmother, Gertrude (Kruse) Leppert.  Bill has one sister, Judith Bicker, who lives in Missouri.

Bill graduated from Garfield Heights High School in 1952.

Bill served in the U.S. Army in Korea where he met his first wife, Hong Kyun Lee.  Bill had four daughters with his wife, Lee.  His daughters will always remember him for his great sense of humor and unconditional love.  He bestowed loving nicknames to his daughters:  Barbara "Bobbie" Kelly, Kathie "Kitsy Kim" Chlepciak (Carson), Diane "Annie" Schirmer (David) and Debbie "Bag of Bones/Terrible Tiny" Lee.  Being with their dad was such a treat that they would sometimes fight over who got to sit next to him on Sunday dinners at Grandma and Grandpa Leppert's house.  After dinner Bill would task one of the girls to massage his head because he said it would help his hair grow back.

In 1961, Bill began his career as a police officer for the Berea Police Department.  He retired in 1987 as a police lieutenant.  He was well respected by his coworkers and those in the community.

His favorite past time was boating and fishing.  Every year, Bill and his buddies would take off to Canada for their annual fishing trip.  It was a week of drinking beer, no shaving and catching trout.

In 1980, Bill married his second wife, June "Charlie" (Laub).  They would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in August of this year.  Bill helped to raise his two stepchildren, Denise "Dee" Bradish (Dan) and Anthony "Skip" Malinak (Penny).  June and Bill retired to Hartwell, Georgia in 1987 and just last year moved back to Ohio to be closer to family.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
