YANCEY B. QUINN, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 11 at his home in North Olmsted, Ohio. He was the beloved husband of the late Sarah Jane Wyatt Quinn. They were happily married for 58 years.  He is survived by his four children, Anne Piar (Bill), Diane Neary (Jack), Yancey Jr. (Kara) and Jennifer Stanley (Joshua). He is also survived by his brother Herbert Quinn (Betty), sister-in-law Carolyn Parsons (Jim). Yancey has eleven grandchildren, David Piar (Kelly), Lisa Zupan (Brian), Ryan Neary (Jamie), Katie Neary, Kevin, Grace, Carolyn and Danny Quinn, Wyatt, Sarah Jane and Olivia Stanley. Five great-grandchildren, Haley, Adam and Owen Zupan, and Paige and Presley Piar, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Yancey was born on October 2, 1934 in Mount Hope, Alabama to Bernice (Counts) and Herbert Quinn.  He graduated high school from Columbia Military Academy in 1952. He continued his education at Auburn University and transferred and became a proud graduate of the University of Alabama. He graduated there in 1956, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  While at Alabama he belonged to ASME, Pi Tau Sigma, the Cadet Officers' Club and won the Award for Outstanding Military Engineer. Roll Tide!  War Eagle! He was involved in ROTC at the University of Alabama and was on active duty for 9 months and then the Army Reserves. After graduation, he used his engineering degree to secure a position at Union Carbide.  His career took him all over the world and the family lived in many locations in the US including Columbia, TN, Niagara Falls, NY, Greenville, SC, Bridgeport, WV, and Cleveland, OH. He worked for Union Carbide for over 35 years.  Yancey has been an active member of John Knox Church since 1972.

He was involved in Boy Scouts from an early age. His love of the organization propelled him to become a Boy Scouts leader to help prepare the next generation of future scouts. Yancey was always willing to help and constantly maintained a wonderful can-do attitude. Yancey enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, woodworking (sawdust therapy), gardening, feeding the birds, reading, building models (trains, rockets and airplanes), and spending time with his family and in his Happy Place, Remlik, Virginia.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday June 21, 2021 at John Knox Church, 25200 Lorain Road in North Olmsted, Ohio.  The church gallery will be open from 10 – 11 for family and friends to gather.  All are welcome.
