IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul J.
Hruby, Sr.
July 30, 1927 – September 28, 2022
PAUL J. HRUBY, SR., age 95. Beloved husband of the late Theresa (nee Tulcewicz); loving father of Maria Moore (the late Fenton), Faith Manning (Tom) and Paul Jr. (Julia); grandfather of Michael Moore, Kathleen "Katie" Moore, Erin Manning, Tommy Manning, Paul "PJ" Hruby, Garrett Hruby and Samantha Hruby; brother of the late John, Lillian, Joseph, Charlie, Frank, Helen Skowronski and Marge Schlund; uncle and friend of many.
Paul J. Hruby, Sr. was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 30, 1927. He was the youngest of 8 and eight years younger than his youngest sibling. His nationality is Bohemian Czech. Paul's grandfather immigrated to America from Czechoslovakia. His grandfather was returning to Czech to receive an inheritance, however, his ship went down on the passage. The family likes to say, "We could've been rich but we will never know." Paul lost his dad when he was 2 years old, and his mom when he was 16 years old. He attended St. Adelbert grade school on E. 83rd for 6 years, then Holy Family on Harvard for 2 years. He attended Moses Cleveland Jr. high for 9th grade. He finished high school at Benedictine and graduated in 1945. Paul stayed active in high school by working at many different places. He delivered papers, worked at the post office, bowling pin setter, movie theater usher, dishwasher and soda jerk, stock boy at Fisher Foods, and defense worker at TRW Corp. After graduation, he joined the Navy for 1 year. He spent time in Panama and Pacific on a sub tender, the USS Orion. After the Navy, he returned to high school (John Adams High School) for a year to earn enough credits in Math and Science to attend college. Paul attended Adelbert College of Western Reserve University on the GI Bill. He also worked at Sherman Clothes. Paul graduated in 1951 with a BBA in business administration. Paul continued his education at Western Reserve University, and received a master's degree in 1967 in sales and marketing. Paul worked for a variety of companies: Harshaw Chemical, Shell Oil, Mogul Corp. (water treatment), and Marlin Manufacturing (industrial thermocouple) as a sales and marketing manager. Paul then started his own company, PATHON, which stands for Paul, Theresa, Overseas, National. PATHON mostly dealt with international sales of tools and supplies to mold and die trade. PATHON introduced special air tools to the world: contour air king profiler and a governed air turbine grinder. The grinder maintained a constant 60,000 rpm even when grinding! Paul loved to golf, fish, and hunt. He is an avid stamp and coin collector. He has been a faithful and active member of St. Brendan's parish for over 40 years. He wore many hats at St. Brendan's: Eucharist minister for church and Manor Care Nursing Home, offertory counter, usher, funeral server, and a very active member in the Holy Name Society. Paul met a very special lady at CAYOMAW Club, Catholic Young Men and Women. He met and courted Theresa Tulcewicz. The couple were very active members of the club; Paul was even president in 1955. Paul's time in the club was very educational, he learned about organization which will help him with PATHON. Paul and Theresa's dedication to the group helped the group receive the highest award for Catholic leadership, the Eagle Cross. Normally, once you are married you are asked to leave the group. The group recognized Paul and Theresa dedication, support, and love of the group with a lifetime membership. Paul and Theresa were married on October 3, 1964 at St. Stanislaus Church. They have been married 53 years and have 3 children and 7 grandchildren.
