WILLIAM "BILL" SCOTT, age 93. Beloved husband, father, and grandfather. An optician long remembered by former clients for his kindness, Bill took one sick day in a career spanning 30+ years. He served as manager of Union Eye Care offices in Lorain and, later, North Olmsted. He was a car enthusiast, history lover, and proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He loved Malley's chocolate and, in his younger years, beer and cigars. He was married to Therese Scott (nee Kordish) for 60 years. Their retirement included walks by the shore of Lake Erie and canvassing estate sales for Air Force memorabilia. Annual fall trips to the Hocking Hills area brought many wonderful memories.

When his two daughters were young, Bill juggled a demanding job and the challenges of caring for an aging parent. So when his three grandkids came along, he enjoyed every minute. Bill played "bear" while they giggled inside their blanket tent. An "epic" squirt gun fight left him laughing as much as the kids. He once chased a runaway toddler in a safari hat through a shopping mall. One Christmas he successfully found what we believe was the last Ariel doll on the west side of Cleveland for his granddaughter, a story he enjoyed telling years later. As they grew, he enjoyed in-depth conversations with his grandchildren, especially discussions about history with oldest grandson, Charlie. He watched his granddaughter's school plays and soccer matches and his grandsons' hockey and baseball games until mobility issues prevented him from doing so. He was a gift in their lives.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marie (Hlatky) Scott; aunt Ann Robinson; uncle Michael Hlatky, whom he thought of as his brother; and his cherished dog Molly, a high-maintenance Sheltie whom he accompanied on daily walks and for McDonald's ice cream cones that he held while she licked. He is survived by his beloved wife Therese, who lovingly cared for him as his health failed; devoted daughter Karen Scott, who accompanied him to nearly every doctor's appointment in his later years; loving daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Joe Cimperman, whose home became the epicenter of wonderful family gatherings; and grandchildren Charlie, Ella, and Henry, who will always treasure his memory.

If you wish, enjoy a walk in your favorite park and a cup of decaf coffee in his honor.
